Maggie Klee Lichtenberg is a personal and business coach with two specialties. First, as a former editorial, marketing and sales publishing company executive for 20 years in New York and Boston (Simon & Schuster, Bantam, Grove Press, Beacon Press), from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maggie is a publishing coach and consultant to companies and individuals in career and life transition who, concurrently, may be pursuing book publication.
Maggie's new specialty evolves from having a dormant congenital heart defect suddenly pop up to haunt her in her fifties. Within a six-month period her condition progressed from mild to severe and she was forced to embrace open-heart surgery in July 2003. Now reborn with a passion to support open-heart patients (690,000 in the U.S. each year) and their care partners to plan ahead for the challenging 2-3 month recovery period, Maggie offers customized workshops, free tele-conference forums, and one-on-one coaching. She is also completing a book, Heart Healing After Surgery: The Heart Surgery Recovery Planner For Patients and Care Partners. Maggie's website, www.openheartcoach.com, will be online January 1, 2005.
Maggie Lichtenberg, PCC, has been coaching for nine years. She comes from the point of view that personal growth and renewal is what gives us life. After 20 years in corporate America, in 1995 she quit a prestigious job as marketing director for Beacon Press in Boston, initiated a fulfilling and profitable national coaching business and, without a partner, moved 2000 miles across the country to the environment of her dreams - the Southwest.
Maggie began her career as a journalist. Her essays, criticism, and magazine features have appeared in many national publications including The New York Times Book Review, Publishers Weekly, The Nation, Ms., Mademoiselle, Hope, and Working Woman. A public speaker and facilitator, she leads seminars -- on becoming an advocate for yourself and your life choices -- for entrepreneurs and business owners at community colleges, writers conferences, women's organizations, and national publisher association meetings.
Maggie is a Coach U graduate, a credentialed Professional Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation (ICF), and has been listed in Who's Who in America and in Who's Who of American Women for many years. She received her BA from the University of Michigan, and pursued graduate work at Harvard University on a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. She is past president of the New York Chapter of the Women's National Book Association.
Maggie has two adult children, both writers, living in New York City. Currently, Maggie resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband, Bill.
